Custer Federal State Bank Visa® Debit Cards now come with embedded chips that provide customers with an extra layer of fraud protection when purchasing from a point-of-sale business. Each chip is personalized to make each transaction unique, in turn reducing the opportunity for fraud.

Debit card chip-reading terminals are now used worldwide, making travel simple and easy. If you plan to travel out of the continental United States, simply contact a New Accounts Representative to have them take international restrictions off your card.
Don't worry.
Your debit card is still equipped with the tradtitional magnetic strip, allowing it to still be swiped at termnals that are not equipped with chip-reading technology.
Debit Card Safety Guidelines
Follow these safety guidelines to help prevent fraud and ensure your personal safety when using your Custer Federal State Bank Visa® Debit card.
Do:
- Memorize your PIN number.
- Protect the magnetic strip.
- Avoid exposing the magnetic strip on the back of your card to the magnetic strip on your credit cards.
- Always be sure to protect your card from other magnetic objects. They can render your card useless.
- Take extra care when dealing with unfamiliar merchants.
- Don’t make a leap of faith when it comes to buying goods or services from mail order, telephone, or internet merchants you don’t know.
- Be sure to ask questions when doing business with a new merchant and only give them your account numbers when you know the business to be reputable.
- Safeguard your personal computer against “Pharming”. Pharming is the name for an activity where a hacker acquires access to your computer for the purpose of redirecting web traffic to another site.
Do Not:
- Disclose your PIN number to anyone.
- Write your PIN number on your card or carry your PIN number with your card.
- Give information over the phone. If a caller requests your card number and PIN number, do not reveal it.
- Withdraw money for a stranger. No one has the right to ask or compel you to withdraw funds from your account.
- Insert your card or enter your PIN number in any terminal that does not look genuine, has been modified, has a suspicious device attached, or is operating in a suspicious manner.
- Fall prey to “Phishing”, “Vishing”, “Smishing” or “Pharming”.
- Never respond to e-mails, phone calls or text messages requesting you to provide card numbers, PIN numbers, or personal information via the internet, cell phone or home phone.
